Teaching
Over the years, I’ve given lectures on writing and taught several creative non-fiction workshops. I will be teaching again at VONA (summer 2012). I am searching for a teaching position in MFA programs so you might also find me pontificating at various institutions in the future.
Cricket Box Workshop
I rarely judge a book by its cover, but I do judge a book by its first page. And so do agents, editors, publishers, and even readers. Certainly, it’s no way to evaluate a book and all that it has to offer, but that’s the reality. I’d like to help writers make a good impression from the first to the last sentence of that very important opening page.
This is my online workshop where I work one-on-one with writers to develop their crafts and manuscripts through applying my writing exercises directly to their manuscript. The workshop is conducted through email and Skype. I can only take 3 students at any one time. The application process is a single page of prose submitted to me by email. Tuition is generally free, nominal, or trades. (workshop currently full)
Freelance Writing & Editing
As I only have time to accept one or two assignments every year, I am open to considering all offers. The most interesting or outrageous project will engage my pen (games, movie/animation scripts, memoirs, true stories, and anything amazing).
