Wow

Things that keep me writing when the living gets tough…

“If you’re a writer, you’re a writer–there’s not much you can do about it.” –Annie Proulx                                      (via my friend Mark Pomeroy)

“I continue to admire writing where the writer has something at stake; where he doesn’t just depend on experts but rather takes time to think and research and participate, thereby transforming himself into an expert; where his caring and the urgency of the subject can transform the writing into something that matters, an act of witnessing.” –Ted Conover

“We must become the change we want to see.” –Ghandi

“Find the authentic language of your unique experience.”–Hemmingway

“After all, life is as absurd as God’s humor demands, but books still have to make sense.” — Tara K. Harper

My book on the core doctoral reading list of the University of Houston with a very insightful essay by Allyn West.

A friend sent me this from Melissa Kapadia-Bodi:

“And most of all, Andrew X. Pham’s bicycle memoir moved me, changed my life–it brought me to tears and made me feel whole again. He showed me that experiences weren’t singular and at times when the weight of my skin was too much to bear, I could turn to his pages and know that there was more to life.”

Sometimes, other artists remind me of the magic all around us:

Postcard from Bali by Stephan Kot captures much of the world I’m familiar with.

Yeehaw! If I could be anyone in the world for 4 minutes …

Awesome wingsuit! Teach me how to do this and I’ll write your biography!

Wow is right! I’m reading my second Andrew X Pham book, starting with Eaves of Heaven and now Catfish and Mandala. I love your writing!! When I’m finished I will search for more words to explain all the things I love about these books. For now, I just wanted to tell you your beautiful, compelling, straightforward, introspective story is taking me to new heights of sharing. Thank you!
